Dr Phillis is an experienced Occupational Medical Practitioner, Certified Health Manager, Certified Impairment Rater and Health Leader who completed his schooling at Prince Alfred College in Adelaide, South Australia before relocating to the Gold Coast in 2002. Dr Phillis attended Bond University where he attained a Bachelor of Biomedical Science before completing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Dr Phillis completed his Hospital Based Training at the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service before completing Principal House Officer & Postgraduate years in Private & Corporate Practice.
Dr Phillis has completed further studies in Health Management, Health Leadership, Occupational Medicine, Aviation Medicine, Clinical Governance, Health Informatics, Alcohol & Other Drug Testing Interpretation, and Medicolegal Practice.
Dr Phillis has significant experience within Occupational Medicine, Military Medicine & Compensation, Health Management, Clinical Governance, Immigration Medicine and is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, an Associate Fellow and Certified Health Manager of the Australasian College of Health Service Management, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Clinical Governance, a Medical Review Officer (AMROA) for the interpretation of A&OD testing, a CASA Designated Aviation Medical Examiner, an OGUK Offshore Medical Examiner, an IAIME Certified Impairment Rater, a Certified Health Informatician Australasia, an RSHQ Examining Medical Officer (EMO) and a Rail Authorised Health Professional (AHP).
Dr Phillis has consulted to the Department of Veterans' Affairs as a Medical Advisor in Rehabilitation, Compensation and Permanent Impairment. Dr Phillis has provided Medical Writing services to multiple national organisations for Educational purposes. Dr Phillis has held Clinical Executive Roles as Clinical Lead, Clinical Director & Regional Director in various National Corporate Organisations.
Dr Phillis has attained publications in peer-reviewed journals, has presented at National and International Conferences and is a Lecturer at the Griffith University School of Medicine.
Dr Phillis provides Medical Consultancy Services to any and all organisations, and has a particular interest in Health Leadership, building and developing culture, establishing and implementing Clinical Governance, engaging with the C-Suite to align organisational goals and values, whilst still continuing to practice clinically.
